MLB.com At Bat 2010
MLB.com is an excellent baseball app for the HTC Evo and Android. It is a feature-rich app that brings you live commentary and gameday pitch speed and statistics in addition to a host of other little features that make this one of the best sports app available on Android today. You can track real-time scores and player statistics as well as see excellent graphics for each pitch. Audio quality is top-notch and the quality is very good over 3G and outstanding over 4G. Video highlights can be patchy depending on load, but works very well over Wi-Fi. The accompanying widget is very useful as well.
The interface is very well-designed and manages to present a wealth of information without appearing cluttered or being difficult to navigate. It does eat up a good chunk of your battery life, especially during the video highlights and a little less so during the live audio. The app is relatively pricey compared to the average for the Android Market, but if you’re a fan, it’s definitely worth it. You can’t currently actually watch live video even if you have an MLB.TV subscription (you can do this on that other major smartphone), but future updates will hopefully bring this feature to this already feature-rich HTC Evo app.
