Handcent SMS
Handcent SMS is a free text messaging application that comes with a host of other cool features. You can search through your sms history, have your Evo speak out your text messages and use a T9 format keyboard for messaging. It is much better than the default messaging application on your Evo if you want to customize aspects of your messaging experience. You can download font-packs separately that work with Handcent SMS to make your messages look just the way you like them.
Handcent SMS even lets you quickly create messages with a popup on the homescreen without needing to enter the full app interface. This Evo app lets you create contacts groups that are particularly useful if you tend to be the person organizing events and and inviting a bunch of people. Handcent SMS makes it a breeze to group all of these people and just send one SMS to everyone. You can also say out your message and the app will transcribe your words into text – it works pretty well, especially after you use it for a bit. A pretty nifty and useful messaging application for your HTC Evo from Sprint.
