Aloqa – Always be a local
Aloqa is a personalized recommendation application for the HTC Evo and Android. You can configure categories of interests on Aloqa and this Evo app will notify you whenever something interesting in the categories you’ve selected is happening around your current location. Say you’ve configured Aloqa with Concerts, Restaurants, Sports, etc. The next time there’s a concert or a new restaurant opening in your area, Aloqa will send a simple Android notification with the details of the event. It comes with mapping and directions to the event as well.
There are now a very large number of categories you can add to Aloqa, sufficient to suit the most eclectic of tastes. You can set different types of notifications for different categories – so you can implicitly rank the categories by how important they are to you. The push-based aspect of the notifications is quite unique, since most other apps would require you to open the application on your Evo and perhaps even do a search. With Aloqa you can set your preferences once and never have to really launch the app again – just sit back and soak up the notifications!
