TuneWiki
TuneWiki Social Media Player is a free HTC Evo and Android app that automatically pulls-in lyrics and other meta data for songs and videos you’re listening to. The lyrics are subtitles in sync with the words of the song or video, which allows for karaoke-style sing-alongs. The app covers over 2.5 million songs, so you should be able to see the lyrics for almost any song playing. The app works with the Shoutcast internet radio stream, with hundreds of online stations with every genre imaginable. TuneWiki also generates a Top 50 chart based on listeners’ choices and also lets you tweet out song recommendations or share via Facebook.
Streaming quality is great over both Wi-Fi and 3/4G and the buffering is intelligent enough that you won’t see many stutters. The lyrics are built in a wiki-fashion, so little errors usually get corrected away in time. The subtitled lyrics are shown in a small frame overlaid near the bottom of the screen in both portrait and landscape mode. The size of the text in the subtitles in perfect, and is very clear while remaining unobtrusive enough to not detract from videos. This HTC Evo app can also manage complete playlists and brings most of the other features of a standard media player on a smartphone. Overall, this is an excellent media player for those Evo owners who appreciate the lyrics in songs and video as much as the tunes themselves.
